Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in a Derbyshire village at the weekend.
The incident happened in Riddings in the early hours of Sunday (February 18) morning.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said on Sunday (February 18): “A woman has been left with serious injuries after an assault in Riddings.
“We were called at 1.20am to a report that a woman had been assaulted at a house in Greenhill Lane, Riddings.
“At the scene the woman, who is in her 20s, was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
“A scene is in place and there will remain a police presence in the area throughout today and in to tomorrow.”
The spokesman continued: “A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.
“The incident is understood to be domestic in nature and the victim and suspect are known to one another.
