Representatives of Derbyshire Police have been out and about in local parks with metal detectors as part of a national operation to crack down on knife crime.
A spokesman for Alfreton Police SNT shared these photos on social media yesterday (Thursday, November 16) and stated: “Today, as part of national Operation Sceptre week of intensification of knife crime, the South Normanton and Pinxton Safer Neighbourhood Team have been out at the parks conducting knife sweeps.
“Whilst we know it is the minority of people who think it is acceptable to carry a knife, it can have devastating consequences when they do.”
The spokesman added: “This work means that we can check for any discarded knives or weapons and safely dispose of them, keeping them from getting into the wrong hands.”
