A public consultation which is currently being carried out regarding new power lines across Derbyshire has been extended.
National Grid is inviting communities across Derbyshire to comment on proposals for a “new clean electricity power line project,” which is set to “help bolster energy supplies in the region and support the UK’s energy security strategy and net zero targets.”
The public consultation, which began on May 14, is sharing proposals for Chesterfield to Willington, a new 60-kilometre, high voltage electricity power line running between a new substation at Chesterfield (part of a separate project Brinsworth – High Marnham) and an existing substation at Willington.
The consultation had initially set to run for eight weeks ending on July 9. However, due to the general election now being held on July 4, the consultation has been extended.
A spokesman for the National Grid said: “With the announcement of a general election on July 4, we are re-scheduling consultation events that were planned during the pre-election period, and we will be extending the deadline for consultation feedback.
“All the in-person events and webinars listed for National Grid’s Chesterfield to Willington project here will be re-scheduled.
“We will reschedule these events as soon as possible after the election and will communicate the rescheduled dates closer to the time with finalised event details.”
The spokesman continued: “The consultation will remain open during this period and the ability to provide feedback will not be affected.
“Our phone line and contact email will also continue to be monitored throughout this period should you require any assistance or have any questions.
“Our contact details are as follows: phone: 0800 073 1047; email: chesterfield-willington@nationalgrid.com.”
