The following press release has been issued by Joined Up Care Derbyshire

The NHS in Derby and Derbyshire is reminding people not to leave it too late to order repeat prescriptions ahead of the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.

With the holidays fast approaching, please remember to order and collect any repeat prescriptions as soon as you can so you and your family have enough medicine over the holidays. GP practices and most pharmacies will be closed during the Christmas bank holidays meaning you may not be able to pick up a prescription at short notice.

GP practices and pharmacies usually require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to organise a repeat prescription, so if you need any repeat prescriptions for medication by Christmas to help you stay well, we recommend you get your order in by Tuesday, December 20 so that there’ enough time for the prescription to be processed and for you to collect them. This is particularly important as sometimes not all items are immediately available.

You can find out about all the ways you can order your repeat prescriptions here. Please try to avoid visiting your GP practice or pharmacy to order prescriptions and only phone them if you cannot order online or by an app.

If you feel unwell over the bank holiday, please contact NHS 111 through either their online service https://111.nhs.uk or by calling 111. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 111 will be able to assess you and point you to the right service for you, based on your symptoms – whether that be to a GP, A&E or self-care – and can arrange a call back from a nurse, doctor or other trained health professional should you need it, to get you the support that you need.
