Derbyshire County Council has put forward a proposal to lower the speed limit on parts of the A61, including on stretches of road near Alfreton.
The council is considering lowering the speed limit on different parts of the A61 between Chesterfield and Alfreton.
One of the proposals includes lowering the speed limit to 50 miles per hour on the stretch of road between Alfreton town centre and Shirland. It is currently the national speed limit on this part of the road.
On the other side of Alfreton – near the Watchorn Roundabout – the council wants to reduce the speed from the national speed limit to 40 miles per hour.
Derbyshire County Council has launched a public consultation on the proposals and is inviting drivers and residents to have their say on them.
The consultation is available online. The deadline for taking part is January 31.
