An inaugural meeting of Quakers will be taking place in Alfreton in March.
The Meeting for Worship is being hosted by the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Quakers on Wednesday, March 20 at 10.30am at the Alfreton Christian Centre, Hall Street, Alfreton.
Quaker Judith Nilsen said: “This first meeting is an experiment – if there is interest I can arrange something more regular.
“This is part of the George Fox 400th anniversary celebrations.”
A small exhibition will open at Alfreton Library tomorrow (Friday, March 1) to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of George Fox – founder of the Quakers.
Running until March 31, the exhibition will be on display in three small glass cases in the library and is set to include: a short history, mention of local miracles (Mansfield); the Mansfield Quaker trail and some books including the Journal of George Fox, Faith and Practice, and some historic books from Chesterfield LM including ‘The Great Case against Tithes.’
