Earlier this week the Spirit of Alfreton reported of the proposals which have been submitted to North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC) for planning permission to build a ‘49.99 MW Solar PV Array and Battery Storage Facility’ at land to the North of Stretton Road, Morton, Alfreton.

We asked our readers, through our Facebook page, what they thought of the proposals. Here’s what some of them said:

Rob Davidson said: “It should’ve been allowed in Alfreton. I don’t see the problem with having solar panels on the ground never gets used for anything. We are supposed to be saving the planet from getting too hot. This eliminates fossil fuels et cetera. It’s people making these decisions that have knocked thought forward thinking anymore.”

Heather Alice said: “And solar panels can be removed at a future date – no permanent damage to the environment.”

Sylvia Mason said: “Waste of good green land, instead of paying farmers pay residents to have them on roofs.”

Heather Alice said: “All new builds should have them.”
