Yes, that’s right! The big man himself is coming to take part in the Alfreton Christmas Lights Switch On extravaganza this coming Saturday (November 25).

There’s a whole lot of festive family fun taking place at a variety of venues across the Derbyshire town including at the Genesis Entertainment Centre and in Alfreton Indoor Market, as well as in and around Alfreton House in High Street.
The Rotary Club of Alfreton will, once again, be ‘escorting’ Santa on his glittering sleigh to his special grotto at Alfreton House.
Rotarian Mandy Oldknow told the Spirit of Alfreton: “Santa will arrive on his sleigh at 2pm(ish) and will be in his grotto until just before the switch on which will take place at 5.30pm.
“The cost is £3 per child and they will get a present. Cash or card payments will be accepted.”
Funds raised by the Rotary Club will be used to help support people in and around Alfreton.

The Rotary Club of Alfreton was established in 1938.
Mandy further explained: “We are a group of people that like to help others within our community.
“People will see us out and about fundraising throughout the year and helping at local events.
“All the money we raise goes back into Alfreton and the surrounding area.”
She continued: “Rotary is one of the world’s largest and most successful global membership and humanitarian service organisations with 34,000 clubs and more than 1.2 million members worldwide.
“For anyone interested in finding out more about what becoming a Rotarian means they are welcome to get in touch via our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/rotaryalfreton or by having a chat with us at the light switch on.”
