Students at the David Nieper Academy in Alfreton have been showcasing their dancing skills by taking part in a sell-out annual show.
Miss Gregory at the academy said of the David Nieper Academy Dance Showcase 2024: “We recently held our annual dance showcase entitled ‘Our Last Dance.’
“It was a sell-out show and a wonderful evening, where we celebrated dance across the academy as well as the hard work, dedication, and resilience that our students have displayed throughout this academic year.
“During the afternoon, students took part in a technical and dress rehearsal and worked extremely hard to add the finishing touches to their performances.
“45 students from Years Seven to 11 performed in the evening. Our Year 10 and Year 11 BTEC Dance students performed their exam pieces, while other acts included our dance company, dance clubs, solos, duets, and trios.
“This was the final time that our Year 11’s will perform together, and we wish them lots of luck in their exams and their next chapter.”

Miss Gregory continued: “As part of our finale, a number of awards were given out to further high- light the success of some of our students.
“Although it was incredibly difficult to decide, the following were awarded: Choreographer Award: Roxanne Phillips (choreographer of the Year 7 Dance Club), Darcie Jones, and Ellie-Mae Dowling (choreographers of the Year 8 Dance Club); Year 7: Most Improved: Bella Powell; Year 8: Most Improved: Lacey Shaw; Year 9: Most Improved: Mia Binns; Year 10: Most Improved: Morgan Grainger Year 11: Most Improved: Emilie Soar Dance Company Most Improved: Maycee Gibb; KS3 Dedication Award: Chloe-May Nicholls KS4 Dedication Award: Darcie Jones; KS3: Outstanding Technician: Isla Smith KS4: Outstanding Technician: Lily Slack KS3: Outstanding Performer: Megan Resta KS4: Outstanding Performer: Roxanne Phillips Outstanding Role Model: Amelia Vardy Outstanding Contribution to Dance: Isla Gardom.
