Alfreton’s Christmas lights are being switched on tomorrow (Saturday, November 26) and there’s going to be a huge celebration to mark the occasion.

We think it’s the perfect opportunity for us to launch our first picture competition.

We would like you to send us your pictures from the Christmas light switch on – it could be a family group shot or a snap of Santa himself.

Whatever picture you enter, please make sure you have permission from anyone pictured before sharing with us because all submitted pictures will be published online.

You can send the pictures via our Facebook page or email them to editor@spiritof.uk.

The deadline for sending the pictures is 12pm on Monday (November 28).

We will publish all of the pictures in a gallery on our website that afternoon before choosing a winning picture.

The winning picture will be announced on our website and social media channels on Tuesday (November 29).

The winner will receive a £25 Amazon gift card.

You must be over 18 to take part in the competition.

Entries received after the deadline of 12pm on Monday, November 28 will not be entered into the competition.

By entering a picture into the competition, you agree that it can be used on the Spirit of Alfreton’s social media channels.

By entering a picture into the competition, you agree that your picture can be used on the Spirit of Alfreton website.

Pictures used on the Spirit of Alfreton website and associated social media channels will be used with a picture credit where possible.

The winning picture will be selected by the editor of the Spirit of Alfreton.

The Spirit of Alfreton staff and their associated partners are prohibited from taking part.

There is no cash alternative to the prize.
