The Service 55 bus route has been extended to Somercotes at peak times to help people get to and from work.
Up until March 26, the bus route had travelled between Chesterfield and Alfreton Bus Station.
Now, instead of stopping at Alfreton Bus Station, the bus service will continue on to the Wimsey Way industrial estate, in Somercotes, early in the morning Monday to Saturday.
Three services – at 4.35pm, 5.35pm and 6.35pm – will also start at the industrial estate Monday to Saturday.
In addition to the extension, later bus services have also been added to the route.
The last bus to leave Alfreton is now at 10.15pm. The last bus had previously left the bus station at 6.15pm.
The improvements to the service come after Derbyshire County Council received funding from the government.
Councillor Kewal Singh Atwal, cabinet member for highways assets and transport at Derbyshire County Council, said: “I’m delighted that the extra money we have had from the government has enabled us to make these improvements.”
