A community pantry, which helps residents with the cost of living, has had a refurbishment – thanks to its band of volunteers.
Oscari is a scheme which is run from the Church Of Christ, Colledge Street in Riddings. It offers a multitude of help and support including a community pantry where residents in need can purchase food and other products at very discounted rates. The initiative also runs craft sessions and a foodbank.
A spokesman for the organisation said on Monday (January 8): “Our volunteers have spent the past nine days non-stop working, laying carpets and rearranging the shop to make it more accessible to everyone.
“We now have a wide range of produce for you to have all within your £7.50 shop limit.
“We also have some lovely items that are for sale starting at just 50p. Maltesers truffles, bags of mini Maltesers, mint Maltesers and much more.”
The spokesman continued: “The pantry is open Tuesdays at 10am and shuts at 1pm.
“Members pay just £7.50. Non members can sign up and pay £7.50 membership and then £7.50 for the shop.
“Happy new year everyone and we look forward to seeing you all.”
