Students at the David Nieper Academy have been excelling in a range of sporting events.
Academy teacher Mrs Briggs said of the latest sporting success at the academy which is situated in Alfreton: “The U14 girls futsal team finished third in the Amber Valley Schools competition.
“After a tense play-off game that ended with our girls winning on penalties, The girls convincingly beat teams from Heanor Gate, Swanwick, and Ecclesbourne in the group stage.”
On to a Multis-port Festival which the academy took part in, Mrs Briggs said: “We took a KS3 team to a multi-sport festival at Ecclesbourne School.
“They took part in seated volleyball, boccia, and target games. They were all amazing and showed excellent sportsmanship.”
And finally, regarding a swimming gala which students took part in, Mrs Briggs said: “A group of pupils took to the water to represent DNA at the Amber Valley School swimming gala.
“After some tough swims, DNA managed to place second in the butterfly and second in the team re- lay. Well done to everyone who took part.”
