Students from the David Nieper Academy in Alfreton have been taking part in a mini conference focusing on working in the NHS.
The Year 12 Mini NHS Conference recently took place at the Primary Integrated Community Service (PICS) Headquarters.
Student Keira Fenn said of the trip out: “A group of ten Year 12 students recently visited the Primary Integrated Community Service (PICS) Headquarters in Nottingham Business Park.
“Upon arrival, the managing director delivered an introduction to PICS and the Primary Care Networks (PCNs).
“We then took part in interactive sessions delivered by a variety of healthcare professionals, such as a Social Prescribing Link Worker, PCN Nurse, Health & Wellbeing Coach, Nursing Associate, and Mental Health Occupational Therapist.
“They informed us of their role within PICS, day-to-day responsibilities, and their career journey, as well as demonstrating the equipment used in their roles.”
Keira continued: “We took part in an activity in which we created a career profile for one of the roles we had discussed.
“This visit gave us a great insight into a variety of careers in the NHS that we might not have considered, and the pathways to enter these fields.”
