An air cadet squadron in Derbyshire has come out tops in a swimming competition.
Youngsters from the Alfreton & Ripley Air Cadets joined others for the contest at the recent Trent Wing Swimming Championships.
A spokesman for the air cadets said on Sunday (February 11): “In a display of skill and determination, cadets from 1401 made their mark at the Trent Wing Swimming Championship today, showcasing their prowess in the pool and bringing home a slew of victories.
“Some standout performances from Sgt White allowed him to clinch victory in both the Senior Boys freestyle and breaststroke events.
“Equally impressive was Cpl Moorcroft who secured a first place in the Junior Boys freestyle and a second place in the backstroke.”
The spokesman continued: “Cadets Rodgers and Skelton did the squadron proud with their performances, in what was their first time attending the event.
“The final results saw 1401 announced as the overall winners of the Senior Boys classification. The squadron also secured a commendable second place in the Junior Boys classification.
“This is a fantastic achievement for the squadron, well done to all those involved.”
