A community stalwart has been honoured for her long-service to many organisations in a Derbyshire town.
The Alfreton & District Heritage Trust has recently presented Marlene Bennett with an Honorary Life Membership of the organisation.
John Rayson, a member of the trust said: “Last week it was our absolute pleasure to present councillor Marlene Bennett MBE with an Honorary Life Membership of Alfreton & District Heritage Trust in recognition of her service to our town over the last 40 years both as a founder member of the town council since 1984, Town Mayor and Mayor of Amber Valley.
“Marlene’s love for all things Alfreton absolutely shines through in the many organisations she supports and whilst this award may not rank up there with an MBE, it ought to.”
The Alfreton & District Heritage Trust hosts its regular history-focused talks at Palmer Morewood Memorial Club in Hall Street, Alfreton.
