A range of different activities will be on offer at Alfreton Park this weekend during an event hosted in celebration of a teaching assistant’s incredible fundraising challenge.

James Simpson, who works at Woodbridge Junior School, is taking part in The Deca – an ironman triathlon, every day for 10 days – this month.

The challenge will see him swim 24 miles, cycle for 1,120 miles and run for 262 miles.

James is taking on the challenge in a bid to raise £5,000 to support outdoor activities for young people in Alfreton.

The activities will be part of the Active8 Alfreton project, which will be delivered in partnership between Sisu Derbyshire and Alfreton Town Council.

The aim of the Active8 Alfreton project is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to take part in some form of regular exercise.

To celebrate James’ efforts, Sisu Derbyshire and Alfreton Town Council have organised Simpson’s Super Saturday.

Set to take place tomorrow (Saturday, July 23) at Alfreton Park, the event will offer the opportunity to try a range of different activities, including self defence, cricket and BMX.

The event will take place between 10am and 2pm.
