A heritage trust in Derbyshire is continuing its current series of informative talks.
The Alfreton & District Heritage Trust hosts its history-focused talks at Palmer Morewood Memorial Club in Hall Street, Alfreton.
They run from 1pm until 3pm and include a free buffet for visitors.
The 2024 programme has already included: History of Alfreton and Somercotes from Doomsday Book to Present Day, presented by the trust’s Phil Fearnley (on January 13); ‘My Mum had one of Those’ presented by Paul and Janet Barrass (on January 27); Music from the 1950s up to 1962, presented by Mike Coupe (on February 10).
Still to come are:
Saturday, February 24: ‘Monday is Wash Day’ presented by the trust’s Ivan Brentnall and fellow ‘Scrubber’ John Rayson.
Saturday, March 9: ‘Knitters, Nailers and Traitors’ – a look at Belper’s history and its impact on the world, presented by David Skillen.
Saturday, March 23: ‘It’s a Bobby’s Job’ with John Rayson.
Saturday, April 6: ‘Music Hall, the Singers and Songs’ with Dr Ann Featherstone.
Saturday, April 20: ‘18th and 19th Century Alfreton’ with Phil Fearnley.
