A water safety expert from Alfreton has been named as a finalist in the STA Aquatic Excellence Awards.
The Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA) has created the new excellence awards to celebrate and showcase the achievements of those involved in delivering swimming programmes and aquatics training in line with the charity’s objectives.
The awards feature 10 categories – the winners of which will be announced at a ceremony on Friday, October 13.
Among the finalists is Alfreton’s Liz Harby, who has been shortlisted in the STAr Water Safety Educator category.
Liz has been involved in water safety from a very young age and is a member of the Royal Lifesaving Society.
She volunteers in school to support water safety education and also works with Training Aquatic Courses.
Liz said: “To be recognised for such an award is truly inspirational and I am so proud.
“To be a finalist means so much, not only for me but for the water safety education work I try hard to encourage.”
