Alfreton Town FC issued the following news update on Monday, February 13

The Reds travelled to Edgar Street, the home of Hereford FC on the 11/2 and gained a point on the road to move up to ninth position in the Vanarama National North League, with two games in hand on the teams in eighth and seventh positions.

The league continues to be extremely tight with teams from the relegation position picking up points from the play off spot chasing teams.

Alfreton continue to navigate to a play off birth, a tall order in a very competitive division, but currently remain on course.

This coming Tuesday (14/2) the Reds have no game (their league fixture v Banbury being postponed) due to the opposition competing in their County Cup on the day.

The Reds will, therefore, have the luxury of being able to undertake two training sessions in a week, producing an opportunity for the two new (loan) signings, Connor Teale from Fleetwood Town and Charlie Winfield from Barnsley who both made their debuts at Hereford having been introduced to their team mates prior to the game to work with the team in training.

The two new recruits did well on Saturday past under the circumstances and will provide great cover in the squad for the missing Dwayne Wiley, who will serve a one match ban, for receiving two yellow cars in the midweek game v Curzon Ashton of the 7th of February, along with Danny Preston, Josh Clackstone and Adam Lund who are all nursing injuries received during the same game.

Alfreton next play on the 18/2 at the Impact Arena, when they welcome AFC Telford. A game which has a proposal of ‘Bring A Friend for a Fiver’.

Alfreton Town are pleased to confirm that season ticket holders for the current season can bring along a friend to the fixture v AFC Telford (18/2) for £5.

On February the 18th we host AFC Telford in our National League North fixture and desire to add volume to the 12th man on the terraces and seats.

A maximum of one friend per season ticket holder will be admitted to the cost of £5 when a pre-game discount tickets are purchased (cost £5) in advance from the ticket office.

To gain your ticket contact the office on 01773 830277 (between 9am and 12 noon) or call into the Impact Arena – Monday 9am-1pm, Tuesday 9am-12noon, Wednesday 9am-12noon, Thursday 12.30pm-3.30pm or Friday 9am-12noon – and gain you pre-match ticket.

On Friday the 17th of February Bottled Up Blokes host a coffee morning at the Impact Arena from 10am-1pm and are also on site at the Impact Arena on the 18th of February (v Telford) to chat to all who wish to chat with them.

It is with the greatest of regret and deepest sadness that the National League announces the passing of Brian Lee MBE, former Chairman and League President. He passed peacefully in hospital on Sunday 12 February.

As a mark of respect, all clubs will observe a one-minute silence and wear black armbands for all fixtures taking place on Saturday 18 February.
