Woman dies following alleged assault in Derbyshire village

A woman has died following an alleged assault in a Derbyshire village.
The incident happened in Riddings on Sunday, February 18, and police have now announced that Christine Everett-Hickson, who was then found with life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, has since sadly passed away.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said on Saturday morning (February 24): “We were called at 1.20am on Sunday, February 18, to a report that a woman had been assaulted at a flat in Greenhill Lane, Riddings.
“At the scene Christine Everett-Hickson was found with life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
“In the early hours of Friday, February 23, the 21-year-old died. Her family are being supported by specialist officers.”
The force spokesman continued: “A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and, on Tuesday (February 20) evening, prior to her death, was charged with the attempted murder of Christine.
“Kain Tailby, of Greenhill Lane, Riddings, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 21) where he was remanded to prison.
