Elderly villagers in Derbyshire have been enjoying an afternoon of “warmth, laughter, and cherished moments” at an event hosted by the local parish council.
South Normanton Parish Council recently hosted the afternoon of food and live entertainment at the Post Mill Centre.
A spokesman for the council said: “A heartfelt Thank You to our wonderful pensioners.
“A massive shoutout to all the incredible pensioners who made our South Normanton Pensioners Meal event at the Post Mill Centre a truly unforgettable afternoon.
“The centre was alive with joy as our amazing guests were welcomed by our South Normanton Parish Council Team with complimentary drinks of Prosecco, Port, or Orange Juice.
“The laughter echoed through the room as everyone took their seats in the Carnfield Suite for a delightful three-course meal, followed by tea/coffee, mince pies, and after-dinner mints.
“But that’s not all – the event was elevated to new heights with the fantastic live entertainment by our very own Bill Smith-Eccles, aka Joliet Jake Blues.”
The spokesman continued: “We also had some friendly competition with Bingo, Raffle, and prizes awarded to the Oldest Married Couple, Oldest Male, and Oldest Female guests.
“Thank you for filling the day with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments. Your presence made the event truly special, and we can’t wait to host you again in the future.
“South Normanton Parish Council would also like to say a very big thank you to all the following: Our very dedicated Assistant Clerk Corina Gee for her tireless event coordination and preparation; South Normanton Churches Together who took care of the catering, prepared and cooked food for the event; Our Parish Councillors and Clerk for waiting on and serving our guests throughout the event; South Normanton Gala Crew for waiting on and serving our guests throughout the event and guest Bingo calling; Leanne Byard of Luna Marine for her beautiful event table and chair design, party decoration and arrangements; Bill Smith-Eccles for the live music entertainment; and Martin Wilson of Dot Five Nine for the event photography and video.
“We could’’t have achieved such a successful event without all your help.”
