A male voice choir has added a Cold Play hit to their repertoire.
Alfreton Male Voice Choir is a community male voice choir based in Alfreton but drawing members from a wider area.
A spokesman for the choir said: “We join together for fun and friendship, specifically to make music which entertains us each week, and our audience whenever we have the opportunity to perform in front of one; in the process we raise money for good causes and support various charities.”
The choir has recently announced that they have added ColdPlay’s ‘Viva La Vida’ to the choirs 2024 repertoire.
A spokesman for the choir said: “The song, written by Coldplay members, is based on the French Revolution and death of King Louis XVI and a portion of the 1830 painting ‘Liberty Leading the People’ by French artist Eugène Delacroix, showing revolutionaries waving the French flag with the words ‘Viva La Vida’ (‘long live life’) splashed across.”
The choir spokesman continued: “Musical Director Terry and accompanist Lisa are busy getting the choir to public performance standard.
“So look forward to being entertained with ‘Viva La Vida’ alongside Queens ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ but also the old standard ‘Danny Boy’.”
