Students from the David Nieper Academy in Alfreton have recently been learning life skills by taking a trip to Broomfield College.
Mrs Bradford at the academy said: “Life skills students went on a trip to Broomfield College for the morning. Luckily, there was only a small amount of rain as we walked around the Broomfield campus.
“We visited the farm, where the pigs and cows were on display.
“In the equine department, we were allowed to walk through but had to be quiet so as not to disturb the horses.”
Mrs Bradford continued: “We were also lucky enough to visit the animal care centre, where we saw meerkats, goats, birds, wallabies, rabbits, alpacas, and much more.
“We learned about the different types of courses available at the college and were able to visit class- rooms where the students were taking lessons.
“We had a great time, and the majority of us will be back next year to take part in their post-16 programmes.”
