A Nepalese restaurant looks set to open in a location formerly occupied by an Alfreton coffee shop.
According to a public notice published by Amber Valley Borough Council, the restaurant – set to be called Thapa’s – will be located at 84-86 King Street.
The site was previously home to Louby’s Licensed Restaurant and Coffee Shop, which closed during the Covid-19 restrictions.
The public notice details an application seeking permission to sell alcohol at the restaurant.
According to the notice, the restaurant will open seven days a week. The opening hours will be 5.30pm until 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 5.30pm until 11pm Sunday to Thursday.
The site was previously subject to a planning application which sought permission to change the use of the ground floor of the building from a restaurant into two self-contained one bedroom flats.
The application was approved in December last year but it would appear that the site will continue to be used as a restaurant.
During lockdown last year, the owners of Louby’s launched a new ‘bakeaway’ business.
