New children’s cooking classes in our area have been hailed as “Just a joy from start to finish.”

These words are from a grandparent whose four-year-old grandson is just one of the many young participants of the new culinary classes which are taking place regularly in Riddings and Selston.

Hosted by Bakelicious Cooking School, the classes offers young children the opportunity to try their hand at baking.

During the hour long classes, the young bakers help create a dish for them to take home and enjoy.

There’s also an activity or craft to complete while their creations are cooking.

The culinary sessions take place at the Old Council Offices in Selston, and at Riddings Park Community Centre.

A grandparent who takes their grandchild to the classes said: “Just a joy from start to finish! My four-year-old grandson loves his ‘Baking Day’ and is always really happy with his bakes.

“He also looks forward to the crafting activity (or balloon chasing or tower building).”

They added: “Recipes are simple but always delicious and George is getting really independent now with cutting, chopping, measuring, mixing and egg-cracking.

“Give this class a try. You won’t be sorry.”

The Bakelicious weekly classes are: 1.30pm-2.30pm on Wednesdays for Home Educators (four to 14-year-olds); 1.30pm-2.30pm on Thursdays for Busy Bakers (two to four year olds); 10am-11am on Fridays for Busy Bakers (two to hour year olds); 10am-11am and 11.30am-12.30pm on Saturdays for Cheflets (five to 12 year olds).

The monthly classes are: 4.30pm-5.30pm on Thursdays for Cheflets (four to ten year olds). £4 taster sessions are available.

The Bakelicious team also have two special Half Term Holiday events on offer entitled ‘Best Cookies Ever!’ They will run on Wednesday, October 25, between Midday and 1pm, and again from 1.30pm until 2.30pm. Cost will be £10 per child.
