The Met Office has issued a weather warning for extreme heat for much of England with temperatures expected to peak on Tuesday.
The amber warning will be in place for all of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
The Met Office says: “A hot spell is likely to develop from Sunday, likely peaking early next week, leading to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.”
The extreme heat warning says there could be “adverse health effects” as a result of the weather, and say “substantial changes in working practices and daily routines are likely to be required”.
The forecast for Alfreton for the duration of the amber warning is as follows:
Sunday, July 17 – 26 degrees
Monday, July 18 – 30 degrees
Tuesday, July 19 – 32 degrees
Joined Up Care Derbyshire has shared a list of tips for coping in hot weather, including drinking plenty of fluids, staying out of the sun between 11am and 3pm, and staying cool indoors.
