A group of volunteers are set to open a community food pantry in Stonebroom next week.
The Stonebroom Community Food Pantry will officially open for the first time on Wednesday, March 15, but organisers will host an open day on Monday, March 13.
During the open day, which will take place between 2pm and 6pm, everyone is welcome to visit the pantry and sign up as a member.
Membership costs £5 per year. After signing up, members will be able to visit the pantry weekly and buy a bag of food for £5.
The pantry will stock a range of items, including fresh vegetables, chilled products and frozen food.
The aim of the food pantry is to provide support to those living in Stonebroom, Shirland, Morton and Mickley who need help during the cost of living crisis. Anyone who needs support is welcome to attend. It is not a food bank so no referral is required.
Pantry members will be able to select their own items as they would if they were shopping at a supermarket.
The Stonebroom Community Food Pantry, based at 12 The Bungalows, will be open weekly on Wednesdays from March 15 between 9.30am and 6pm.
