A young footballer from Derbyshire has come third in a national Ballroom and Latin dancing contest.
Nine-year-old Alfie Parlatt, who plays football for Alfreton Town’s under 9s Scorpions, is also good on his feet when it comes to dancing.
Alfie, who lives in Riddings, has been in dance studios since he was just six months old with his mum who runs classes called Warriors in Alfreton.
The youngster, who became Regional Dance Champion last year, recently took part in the UK Nationals for IDTA Ballroom and Latin in Blackpool.
Alfie, who danced at the competition with his partner Katie Wilson, came third in the contest.
Alfie’s proud mum, Dominique Parlatt, told the Spirit of Alfreton: “Alfie has been dancing since he was three years old, starting with ballet and tap and theatre and later moving into Ballroom and Latin.
“He trains in Alfreton at the Stargaze Academy under the instruction of Miss Amy Heald and her team.”
Dominique continued: “Alfie became Regional Champion in 2023 which qualified him for the UK Nationals for IDTA Ballroom and Latin in Blackpool.
Last weekend on Saturday the Blackpool Winter Gardens saw thousands of dancers take to the famous dance floor.
Alfie danced the heats, the quarter finals, the semi finals, and then found himself in the UK national finals where he danced: Waltz, Pasodoble, Cha cha, and Quick step.
“Alfreton’s very own Alfie came in third place in the UK for Rosette.”
Alfie said of coming third at the national contest: “I couldn’t believe it when I realised I would get to stand on the (podium) box – it made me feel really special.”

Alfie is also a football player for Alfreton Town under 9s Scorpions.
Dominque added: “It’s amazing to see all the boys supporting Alfie’s dance as their Whatsapp group exploded with joy at Alfie’s results.
“Alfie returned to Alfreton where 50 women tried the Pasodoble for the first time in celebration of his results were he had his first go at judging in a mini fun comp at Warriors in his honour.
Alfie currently attends Swanwick Primary School and hopes to attend David Nepier Academy in the future when he is older.
