Derbyshire County Council is calling for community groups to apply for funding to help support climate action projects.
A spokesman for the council said: “The UK’s National Lottery Community Fund has £20 million in funding for community-led projects to inspire more people to take climate action. You do not have to be a climate or environment focused organisation to apply.
“The funding is from the Climate Action Fund – Our Shared Future, to support projects that reach more people by either: linking climate action to the everyday lives and interests of local communities; or influencing communities at a regional or national level.”
They continued: “To be eligible, applications need to be submitted by partnerships consisting of a mix of organisations and sectors, and smaller groups working at a local level. This includes: voluntary and community organisations; registered charities; charitable incorporated organisations; not-for-profit organisations; community interest companies; schools, colleges, universities (as long as the project benefits and involves the wider local communities); public sector organisations; and co-operative societies.
“The minimum grant is £500,000; however, it is expected that most projects will receive funding of  between £1 million and £1.5 million over three to five years. A small number of larger or longer projects may be funded. It is anticipated that up to 25 projects will get grants.
“Organisations can apply at any time until at least the end of 2024. The fund is expected to close to applications in early 2025.”
