Air cadets in Derbyshire have been embarking on a rather windy expedition in their bid to complete their Silver Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards.
Members of the Alfreton & Ripley Air Cadets recently took a trek across some muddy terrain in the area as part of their DofE course.
A spokesman for the squadron said: “Well done to the cadets of 1401 who completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition this weekend.
“Spirits were high despite them experiencing some windy conditions and having to tackle muddy terrain at times.
“The weekend proved valuable as the cadets reflected on their practices and highlighted areas where improvements can be made.”
The spokesman continued: “They now have a few weeks to get organised before they complete their assessed expedition in May.
“A fantastic effort and a great achievement for 1401 as we aim to have another successful Duke of Edinburgh season.”
Alfreton & Ripley Air Cadets, who are on the look out for additional adult volunteers to help run the squadron, meet at their base in Outseats Drive in Alfreton twice a week.
